Take 2

And so I begin again...

Call me an equal-opportunity race fan.  If it's got 4 wheels and an engine, and is holding my interest at that moment, then I like it (and even that's not strictly true, 2 wheels and even no wheels can work for me as well).  So what I have here will be not about one form of racing.  I will probably have a lot of IndyCar, a chunk of NASCAR, some IMSA, a fair bit of Monster Jam, a teeny bit of NHRA, occasional F1, an offhand Super GT, the blue moon BTCC, and a heck of a lot of other stuff.

Nothing here will be on a schedule.  My thoughts come and go, I get grand ideas for posts and then I can't put them into words, but when something does stick, it will go here.  Usually, they'll be rambles, as the header says.  I'm an engineer, not a writer, so poetic prose is not my thing.  Going into a long diatribe about why IndyCar should adopt the SuperFormula/Class 1 turbo 4 cylinder, though? That I can do.

Racing is at a major turning point right now.  Popularity has been on a fairly steady decline for most major series for a while, and as someone who grew up during the peak years, I have my own opinions and ideas on how sanctioning bodies and promoters should address this, and that will be a recurring theme.  As will some of the nerdier stuff, but on a more basic level, if that makes sense.  I honestly wish I had gotten more into automotive engineering in college, and I surely can't do Mulsanne's Corner levels of analysis, but I do like the tech side of things, and when I can go off on a tangent I will.

So there's my introduction, and I hope you stick around to see what comes!
